I heart you, Pandora

I really do. I just keep adding stations. It's closing in on an addiction. Alicia? Fo sho. Jay-Z? Nailed it. Ne-Yo? Of course. Mos Def? Well...most definitely. There's more, but I'm not going to bore you. I'm making this post in the wee hours of a Monday night/Tuesday morning because in lieu of studying Adolescent Development and Exceptionalites, I chose to listen to jams and peruse the world wide web. Ugh. I'll regret it at 8 when I'm in the gym. Oh well. Currently? Common "Love Is". I can't get enough of this shit. Thumbs up. Thumbs down. Awesome.

As for other news, I'm the same as I always have been:
  • Slacking enough to get by in school
  • Unhappy with my weight/appearance/self-image
  • Undecided about my future
  • Conflicted/Nonexistent love-life

Get Some...

IF I WERE AN ANIMAL, i'd be a manatee.
IF I WERE A MOVIE, i'd be High Fidelity.
IF I WERE A FOOD, i'd be meatloaf.
IF I WERE A TV CHARACTER, i'd be Mr. Eko from LOST.
IF I WERE A PIECE OF CLOTHING, i'd be old, torn jeans.
IF I WERE A DAY OF THE WEEK, i'd be wednesday.
IF I WERE A HOLIDAY, i'd be valentine's day.
IF I WERE A PIECE OF FURNITURE, i'd be an ottoman.
IF I WERE A COLOR, i'd be red.
IF I WERE A U.S. CITY, i'd be HOT-lanta.

Hey, Strangers.

I know I don't update, it's been too long, and you probably don't even check this thing anymore, but alas, I chose to make a new post today. Summer break is in full swing. I spend most days lounging around my house, going fishing with Jason and Chris, or playing sand volleyball. Nights? Watching movies. It's a sad, sad life, folks. No social life. Ugh.

It's been awhiiiiiiiiile

I'm going to spare everyone the usual apologies about the lack of posting by yours truly and skip right to catching you folks up on what's going on in Mikey's World.

Let's seeeeeee....what have I been doing since we've last spoken....

There's been lots of going to class, lots of going to area-schools to observe classes, lots of volleyball and basketball games, the occasional night of boozing, and the occasional weekend in Fayetteville. If you mix all those together, you can pretty much predict my weekly routine. I'm kinda stuck in a rut. I'm sure that you all know the feeling: you just keep doing the same thing over and over again. You feel like you're stuck in quicksand. Well, that's what I'm starting to feel like. I'm just in the beginning stages, so don't fret. I just need to find a way to break out of it before it gets any worse. Aaaaaaanyway...

In the aforementioned volleyball and basketball discussion, my intramural b-ball team won the Tech tournament and earned a bid to regionals. Hooray. My city-league volleyball team is all but dominating the standings. Yay. My knees and shin splints are beginning to hurt again. The reason being is that I weigh WAY too much to be running and jumping around as much as I do. The solution? Either stop running and jumping around....not likely.....or lose weight. I'm choosing the latter. Knees and shins aside, the loss of weight may even help my lack of luck with the ladies, which has been well documented. As it turns out, women don't like fat guys. Who knew?

No pictures, no time

Out of the blue, I got invited to go to Fayetteville. I knew Marshall and Lauren were going up there this weekend for the Razorbacks Basketball game, but I didn't want to go and waste time while they were at the game. It turns out that I'm going....fuck it. I'm boozing it up to celebrate a B or a C on my most recent Educational Psychology test. I made Marshall promise me that we would come back after the game on Saturday because he's been known to prolong trips to Fayette-Nam by several days. Anyhooch. Leave plenty of comments because I love them.

PS: It's 5:30 p.m, and I'm getting toasty from the Sam Adams that I've been pounding.

It's Friiiiiiiiiiday

I ended this horrendous academic school week with a test at 1 o'clock this afternoon. I feel like I did well, so to celebrate, I plan on getting 28 sheets to the wind tonight....probably tomorrow night....who knows, Sunday afternoon too.

News...
  • The Thundercats City League Volleyball Team is playing well. We've won several matches and lost a couple. The more we play together; the better we get.

  • I found out that I may have a chance to coach volleyball in Brazil after I graduate.

  • Fat Bastard Shiraz makes me warm and fuzzy allllllllllllll over.

  • I am now positive that "Scrubs" is the funniest show on tv.

  • LOST started again last night. I'm pissed because no one has physically assaulted Ben to the point of death. That bug-eyed bastard would be lying in a ditch somewhere if I was on that island.

  • It's becoming progressively clear to me that I need the love of a good woman. I, currently, am not recieving said love.

Eyes Wide Open

Good morning, everyone. I only say this because I have spent the last 37 hours in bed. My illness took a turn for the worse yesterday morning. I woke up, threw up, and maintained a steady body temperature of around 102 all day and night. Let me just say that my fever and Nyquil-induced stupor was NOT fun. I felt better this afternoon when I got up. Yeah, I got up...this AFTERNOON. I feel like I've wasted and entire weekend, which I have.

I could have sent this in, but didn't:

Down with the Sickness

I know it's been awhile since I've updated, and I'm sorry. Here's the new business:

  • The Russellville City League Volleyball season started on Tuesday. So far, our team, which is the best team in the league, hasn't played well, and we're still tied for 1st place.

  • I am sick, and I caught this illness from Jason. In the germs' defense, I asked for it....literally. I said that I wanted to get sick for the aforementioned weight loss reasons, and my wishes have come true.

  • School's crazy...as usual.

  • I'm going to buy a big bottle of wine and drink it all by myself. I hear Fat Bastard is pretty good. ;)

Wanna see something funny/tragic?

A friend of me challenged me to grow a mustache with him over the christmas break. I obliged. I just grew out my normal goatee, and when his 'stache got long enough, I just shaved everything but the upper lip. I've already shaved it, but alas, here it is:

Manic Monday...Wednesday...and Friday

Now that the first day of school is over, I've realized something: Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday of this semester is gonna be C-R-A-Z-Y. The bulk of my credit load happens on those three days. I only have one class on Tuesday's, and only ZERO classes on Thursday. It's too bad that I have to go to local schools and observe/teach for 42 hours over the course of the semester. Hoo....ray. Ugh.

Late Night/Early Morning Post

Hey, gang (in a non-inner-city type of way). Everyone's been begging for some details. Details of what, you ask? I don't know, but I'm a man of the people and will oblige.

I'll start with my Spa City visit. I honestly got home and immediately mixed a drink for my mother. Apparently, Cruzan has made a fortune off of the 3087 Gourdneck Valley Road residence. It was rainy and cold pretty much the whole time I was home. I took a day (read: 4 hour trip to the mall) and went Christmas shopping. In those 4 hours, I completed all the shopping that I thought was necessary. Sure, some of you that are reading this right now deserve a present WAY more than some of the schmucks that I gave them to, but you are the same folks that don't require a christmas gift to know that I love you.

Back in Russell-tucky, I played fetch with Jada, ate loads of pizza (which I do not recommend unless you want to gain 15 pounds), and watched the tube. Exciting, I know. I did help Marshall and Lauren move out of their apartment and into Lauren's Dad's house. Her dad, Darryl, has taken a job in Mississippi and is letting M+L live in his LAKE HOUSE rent-free. Unreal.

I expected to go to Fayetteville on New Year's Eve and work security for my friend, Shane's, newly opened bar. Unfortunately, he hasn't completed the paperwork and zoning forms and blah blah blah, so he wasn't able to open it yet. Instead of tending to a bunch of drunks in Habibi, his bar, I became one. We all just bought a bunch of hooch and rang in the new year in his bar anyway. This is my new year's kiss. She seemed a bit drunk but didn't object to me kissing her at midnight. The next day, we watched the Hogs get throttled in their bowl game and then drove home.

Since then, I have been eating...and not working out. That means that I've gained a bunch of weight. Booooo. Add that to my already skewed self-image, and you guessed it, I'm starting the Spring Semester with a new diet and work-out plan. Slimmer waist and sexy tummy, here I come!

Welcome back...

Hey, folks. I'm sorry for my blogging hiatus. I've been busy (no I haven't) with lots of holiday business. Really though, the (stolen) wireless internet connection at my house has been all but nonexistant. Regardless....here we go:

I went home to the Spa City for the week of Christmas. Good times, as always, at the ole' Ranch de la Howard. I chopped some firewood for my Pops so that he wouldn't have to for the rest of the winter. I also played bartender for my darling mother, who needed a decent amount of alcohol to make it through the holidays this weekend.

Since I've been back, I've done a ton of nothing. I went to Fayetteville for New Years....got drunk....that's about it. Sad...I know.

I promise to elaborate more....later.
