Quickie

  • I got Staph from CHS, had surgery, and am back to normal. You already know this.

  • Due to my "off-time," I have to do my internship til May 26th.

  • As I am writing this, I am SUPER-STRESSED because I am being observed for the first time (in the Health classroom)tomorrow.

  • It is now apparent that I have effectively put-off all the paperwork for my portfolio to the last minute...as usual.

  • My Adele Station on Pandora is perfect background music for lesson-planning. I suggest you all listen to it while YOU plan YOUR lessons... :)

  • 98% of my High School Internship is fantastic.

  • 1% of my High School Internship is weird because little, high school girls want to get fresh with Coach Howard.

  • 1% of my High School Internship is frustrating due to one or two students that think they don't have to do anything or listen to anyone.

Spring Break

What's up, folks? I know that it's been a while since I've posted, so here's "the haps:"

It's spring break around these parts. MOST college seniors try and relish their last spring break in college. Me? Not so much. You see, I will have a job in a field that, conveniently allows me to have a spring break as long as I'm employed. That being said, I haven't done ANYTHING productive in the last 4 days. "B" and "C" are in South Padre Island like a normal married couple. :/ I am just kicking it solo, taking care of their dogs, and trying to relax a bit.

I can see the end of the proverbial tunnel. I'm a mere 25 days of Student Teaching away from graduating. I still have a LOT of paperwork for my "Exit Portfolio" that I still have to do before I'm officially done, but I should be fine. I will say that I'm a little worried about finding a job. I may have to try and get licensed in another content area other than Health and Physical Education so that I could teach another subject. For the time being, I'm just going to try and focus on graduating.

Bulleted list from my first week at the high school? You got it:
  • the high schoolers are equally impressed as the 2nd graders when I dunk a basketball

  • just as i expected, I really enjoy wearing slacks and a tie to "work" everyday

  • I see a little bit of "my high school self" in almost all of my students

  • I've already been hit-on by an 18 year old student (don't worry, I'm a professional)

Annual Update

As far as I know, no one is still checking this. I don't care. I'm still going to update it when I get the time. What's new with me? I'll tell you. I'm 3 and 1/2 weeks into my internship. The first six weeks I'm at Pyron Elementary. The second 6 weeks I'll be at Clarksville High School. I can already tell you that I like the elementary better. There's a few up-sides to working with little kids:
  • they ALWAYS want to participate
  • with just a little teaching, they make HUGE improvements
  • who doesn't love to be admired by 25 Second Graders five times a day?
As for the high school, I'll be teaching one class of Athletics and 4 classes of Health. I think I will like the Health class. Who knows...

In other news, my intramural basketball team won the Arkansas state tournament again. No surprise. We'll be going to the regional tournament at Mississippi State soon. Last year, we won that tournament too. Fingers crossed.

As for my social life:

If you're reading this, you should already know that I, by my own accord, do not have anything to report. As silly as you may think I am, I'm sticking to my guns.

That's about it. For your viewing and listening pleasure, I present my personal "Pump Up Jam of the Moment":

Herro...

My otherwise moderate-to-good mood was spoiled when I saw this:
